The Prayer of a Friend

My friend Dan has undergone three surgeries on his neck in the three years. The most recent one this fall was to release pressure on the nerves causing him terrible pain. The surgery reduced his pain but in the process the vocal cord was nicked and became paralyzed. He lost his voice and it took great effort to speak in anything louder than a whisper.

Several doctor visits later the verdict was that his condition was permanent. Dan had to give up his job because it required verbal communications and he was getting terribly depressed. I stood up on his behalf in a Saturday service for healing by proxy and have prayed for him throughout all these surgeries. He is my best friend.

Dan and his family spent a quiet Thanksgiving together. The next morning, Dan awoke and was able to speak in a near full returned voice—albeit a bit more gravely in tone—but otherwise normal!

Many friends and family prayed for Dan during these surgeries. Doctors had told him his condition was untreatable and permanent. They too are surprised by his returned voice. Those of us who love Dan and pray for his health believe that God shone His face upon Dan on Thanksgiving Day and healed him! I wanted to share this with you because it was important to me.
